UPDATE:

Colorado State win shrinks Rebel’s chances for bowl game appearance Default Thumbnail

November 22, 2008 by Hepi Mita

The Rebels’ chances of a bowl appearance suffered a big setback this morning as Colorado State came away with a 31-20 victory over Wyoming.

The win gives Colorado State a 4-4 conference record and secures their position as the fifth ranked team in the Mountain West.

The Mountain West currently has agreements to send four teams to bowl games, but with Utah in contention for a BCS bowl, the conference will likely send five teams to bowl games. If this is the case, it would be the most teams the conference has ever sent to the post season.

The Rebels now need Utah to beat BYU, as well as a win over San Diego State tonight in order to get a possible at-large bid. Utah leads BYU 27-17 at the half.

TCU may also be selected for a non Mountain West bowl game, which would open up yet another bowl game slot for the rest of the conference.
