“Fuego Raw Talent” might hold the answer for free winter break entertainment.

The 75-minute performance features a cast of talented dancers and singers who give credit to the “talent” in the title.

The story of “Fuego” is based around the idea (or fact?) that our world has become tangled in a web of stress where human beings are enslaved to technology.

Sir Real, the master of stories finds LOL – the Laptop of Life- that has been given life by angels and devils who are struggling for power. LOL brings Sir Real’s stories to life, making any dream a reality. He is then haunted by the Evil Queen who tries to use her beauty to temp Sir Real and use the LOL for her evil purposes.

However, Senorita Conciencia Culpa (Miss Conscience Guilt), with a suitcase full of money, is ready to get the LOL somehow and pay a price for it.

Clearly, the focus is about the dependence on technology.

The experience before the show is pleasant with electronic, tango and Latin music. The randomness of the musical combination made me even more curious.

The show’s Latin influence is obvious. The music and pamphlets with information (with many of its Spanish phrases and words) are just a few examples.

The music in the show is the best part. It’s diverse.  The only thing that came to my mind when the first song stared was: electronic meets Latin music. It’s an odd combination and  it may sound like the genres are too opposite, but I think it is a successful marriage.

This visual-illusion-packed show also features creative costumes and colorful performers who combine dance steps with contortion.  You will wish you knew the lyrics to sing along and you may want to dance to the contagious rhythm.  It’s everything one would expect in a Vegas show.

So how is this show different from others?  The music and performances are definitely worth watching, but you have to be culturally open-minded. The show is heavily charged with Spanish phrases and themes which are usually translated immediately as part of the show.

We all know the economy is bad and as students our pockets are perhaps emptier than ever. However, “Fuego Raw Talent” wants your input on the show. For that, they are giving complimentary tickets to students as long as you present your RebelCard at the box office and commit to write a blog or newsletter or share your thoughts on a social media Web site. The chance to have this “Raw” experience will last through Dec. 31.

“Fuego Raw Talent” performs nightly at 8:30 p.m. at the Sahara Hotel & Casino.
