Volleyball wins final home match of season against TCU

The UNLV Rebels took to the court this week to play their final two volleyball home games of the year.

On Thursday, the Rebels dropped a nail biter to New Mexico 3-2 but bounced back to sweep TCU on senior day last Saturday.

The New Mexico Lobos came to Las Vegas to avenge a loss to the Rebels earlier this season. The Rebels couldn’t hold off the rally, as they lost 26-24, 27-29, 25-13, 26-28, 12-15. The match was fairly even, as three of the five sets went past the 25 point mark, each of those featuring at least 10 ties.

The Rebels outhit the Lobos throughout the match at a pace of .205 to .114.

The Rebels had great sets, but when they had weak sets, the Lobos took advantage of the Rebels’ mistakes.

Samantha Richard led the Rebels on the court. Richard notched a double-double, as she had a career-high 48 assists and 12 digs. She was also two kills shy of obtaining a triple-double.

Cursty Jackson led the team with 21 kills and added six digs, six blocks (two solo) and two aces.

The Rebels paced the match. They outhit the Horned Frogs .252 to .157. TCU did record one more total kill, but recording seven more errors held them back.
