IN BRIEF: New bill supports vets alt text

November 30, 2009 by The Rebel Yell

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is reaching out to veterans in higher education to make them aware of monetary advances available while their Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits are under evaluation.

Those awaiting confirmation of their Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits and deemed eligible may receive a $3,000 advance on those benefits, which “will be recouped from future benefit payments,” according to a Veterans Affairs press release.

Requests for one-time advance payments can be made through the local VA Regional Office or through www.va.gov.
