IN BRIEF: UNLV smells opportunity alt text

November 30, 2009 by

The new entertainment complex and on-campus hotel will host a partnership between UNLV and a scent branding and marketing powerhouse.

Harald Vogt, founder of the Scent Marketing Institute in New York, announced a close cooperation agreement between his organization and UNLV Nov. 20 at the SCENT world conference in the Renaissance Las Vegas Hotel.

The effort is one of several being made by the William F. Harrah Hotel College to reach out to industry leaders in an economic downturn. Stuart Mann, dean of the hotel college, said that he believes the partnership will help clear the disconnect between the commercial and education fields.

He added that any laboratories required may be built within the new entertainment complex and on-campus hotel that will break ground soon on the UNLV campus.

Vogt is expected to join the task force looking into UNLV’s planned Experience Management Institute as part of the collaboration and UNLV is expected to help develop the Scent Marketing Institute’s certification program.
