Theatre7 to show newest addition of the popular Japanese franchise
One of the most popular Japanese animes of all time, Fullmetal Alchemist, is coming to Las Vegas for a two-day screening of the newest film in the long-running franchise. The underground art house Theatre7 will be showing Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m.
The Sacred Star of Milos follows the tale of a brother and sister torn apart by war. The film opens with a dark sequence of the siblings being taken from their town as their neighbors and friends are gunned down by the military, only to have their parents violently murdered when they arrive home.
Series protagonists Edward and Alphonse Elric become mixed up with the two after they try and hunt down the brother, who is now a fugitive. Things aren’t as cut and dry as just bringing him back to prison, however, after they find out that he plays a smaller role in a much larger conflict between the nations of Creta and Amestis and their struggle over a Holy Land called Milos.
Fans of the series should find plenty to like here, as the film does an excellent job of blending the politically dense and morally ambiguous story with fantastic action scenes and some good character development.
Theatre7, known for hosting art shows and independent film screenings, will be the only theater in Las Vegas showing the film.
